STUDENT ENROLLMENT MINIMUMS: Teachers are allotted to the Paulding Virtual Academy based on the total number of students who enroll during the open enrollment period. High school course must meet minimum student enrollment thresholds to be allotted a funded, certified teacher. Failure to reach necessary student enrollment thresholds during the open enrollment period will result in the closing of grade-level(s) and/or course(s) for the following school year.
Should an enrolled student’s grade-level or required courses not meet minimum enrollment thresholds, parents/guardians will be notified.
Parents will be notified via email of their child’s PVA enrollment status and any program closures by the end of the 2025-2026 school year.
Other items of importance when considering PVA:
- Registration will take place from February 3rd through February 17th.
- There is no opt-out period. Applicants are committing to PVA for the entire 2025-2026 school year.
- If you are currently in PVA, you must re-register your child for PVA to remain in the program for the 2025-2026 school year.
- No action is needed for students not selecting PVA for 2025-2026. Students are already enrolled, and your zoned school will be expecting them.
PVA High School offers a new and innovative way to receive high school credit. Students may finish classes at a standard or accelerated pace. PVA-HS offers students in grades 9–12 opportunities to complete high school in an environment like college experience. Students will experience a more self-directed virtual learning environment. While some key core academic classes may still have a required live virtual class, many other core classes will move to the teacher serving as facilitator, providing guidance, without live virtual instruction. Elective classes will incorporate a mix of teacher facilitation and program-driven content, allowing students to complete learning tasks, assignments, and assessment through a designated platform. Success in this learning environment requires students to be self-motivated and intrinsically driven. PVA HS students also have the option to participate in Paulding College and Career Academy. Acceptable attendance, grades and a cooperative/productive relationship between home and school must be maintained. Students are periodically reviewed for success.
Students who receive special education services will also take courses in the format described above. Special education students will need to be self-motivated and intrinsically driven with no direct support or live virtual sessions. If special education students choose to remain in PVA for the 2025-2026 school year, an IEP meeting will be scheduled to discuss accommodations, goals and objectives, and consult services. For any special education PVA questions, please contact studentservices@paulding.k12.ga.us.
