PREPARING STUDENTS FOR SUCCESS TODAY AND TOMORROW

The Teaching and Learning Division of the Paulding County School District supports stakeholders in our District's mission of preparing ALL students for success today and tomorrow.  Our team of Curriculum Coordinators works directly with teachers, school administrators, district administrators, state officials, and colleagues from around the state to ensure a comprehensive, aligned, well-articulated instructional program.

The Teaching & Learning Division:

• Promotes and participates in collaboration with all stakeholders to target achievement goals for students, schools, and the district;
• Provides instructional support to all schools through professional learning targeting evidence-based practices and instructional frameworks;
• Supports continuous improvement and accountability initiatives for each school and the district as a whole;
• Provides direction and support for the selection of resources that support classroom instruction;
• Coordinates the resources needed to support needs-based instruction through remediation and enrichment models and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS); 
• Supports whole child development through Student Services, Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS), and Special Education; and,
• Coordinates curricular and co-curricular activities that support student involvement, exploration, technology, the arts, and career/technical fields.

Georgia Standards, Curriculum, and Instruction Resources

The state of Georgia moved away from Common Core Georgia Performance Standards in 2015 and replaced those standards with Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) across all content areas. The Georgia Standards of Excellence were developed and are continuously revised with extensive input from teachers, parents, representatives from the higher education field, and the business community. The Georgia Standards of Excellence expose our students to more rigorous content while maintaining state-level autonomy over curriculum and testing.

In alignment with State Board of Education policy IFAA(1), the Paulding County School District annually updates an implementation plan to adopt learning resources and instructional materials, not including supplementary or ancillary materials. Any resource that constitutes the principal source of study for a state-funded course is adopted through a year-long review and recommendation process. During the process, content specialists, teachers, school leaders, and the community have the opportunity for practitioner recommendations, public comment, and parental input. 

Request to Review Instructional Resources

The Paulding County School District is committed to local control and transparency regarding the content and materials used in the classroom. All locally approved instructional materials and content that constitute the principal source of study for a state-funded course are available for public review upon request of the Teaching and Learning Department.

Supplementary or ancillary materials are available to review if requested by a parent or student in a school or who will be matriculating to such school per State Board Policy IFFA(1). Parents and students who wish to review supplementary or ancillary materials used in the classroom, such as articles, worksheets, online programs, novels, biographies, speeches, videos, music, etc., should contact school administration.
