Once a rural suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, Paulding County is now a thriving center of commerce that retains a small town feel. Paulding County offers its residents a low cost of living, while being close to the bustling metropolis of Atlanta. Residents of Paulding County are just a short 25 minute drive to Atlanta down the 278 Business Corridor. In recent years the county has built a local airport and a new state-of-the-art hospital, as well as welcomed thriving businesses that include a film studio and an aerospace technology firm.
Paulding County is governed by a five-member elected Board of Commissioners. It includes the cities of Dallas, Hiram, and Braswell (which is partially in Polk County). Each city has its own government, led by an elected mayor and city council. Paulding County also has several unincorporated communities, which are governed by the Paulding County Commission.
The population of Paulding County has doubled over the past decade to over 150,000 residents. The Paulding County School District quickly addressed those growing needs. Within the last decade, 12 new schools have been constructed, and several others renovated, to meet the influx of students.
Despite the influx of residents, Paulding County continues to boast a serene, natural environment. Imagine your evening jog or bike ride over a rushing river, or down a winding path between rock cliffs and tall pine trees. Paulding County offers access to several trailheads of the paved Silver Comet Trail. That’s more than 101 miles of car-free space to run and bike on. If golf is your sport of choice, Paulding County is home to three spectacular golf courses and country clubs: Bentwater, Creekside Golf and Country Club, and The Frog at the Georgian Resort. You can canoe or kayak along the secluded Tallapoosa River, as well as fish for trout, bass and catfish in the river or one of the other 38 lakes in the county. What about the kids? Paulding County is home to more than 900 acres of beautiful parkland. From sports fields to playgrounds, walking trails and outdoor summer concerts and movies, you are never far from a day-filled activity for the family.
The Paulding County Chamber of Commerce partners with the Paulding County School District to offer job shadow and internship opportunities for our students through the “Paulding Community Engagement Portal”. The purpose of the portal is to increase community awareness of and support for the college readiness and career preparedness of Paulding County’s students.
Our district is proud to be supported by The Paulding Education Foundation (PEF) as well as many community Partners in Education. The vision of the PEF is to provide resources, both financial and human, that ensure total commitment to the exemplary performance of public education in Paulding County. The Paulding Education Foundation strives to create enrichment opportunities and expand learning for our students and teachers by:
