Our Students

  • The Paulding County School District serves roughly 28,500 students. Our students come from diverse backgrounds, which our teachers say provides a “real world” experience inside their classrooms. In Paulding County, students are our top priority. Over the past decade, rapid growth has brought change to the diversity of Paulding County’s population and, by extension, the students we serve. To address the diverse needs of our students, a variety of services and programs are in place, including:

    • English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL),
    • Special Education,
    • Title 1,
    • The Gifted Program, and
    • Early Intervention Program.

The mission of the Paulding County School District is “Engage. Inspire. Prepare.” The vision of the Paulding County School District is to prepare ALL students for success today and tomorrow. Our students define success in a number of different ways, from continuing in higher education to learning applicable skills they will need to excel in their chosen career.

Inside our five high schools, students find 17 career clusters, from which they can choose their elective courses. These career pathways are state-approved career enhancement programs, defined as a coherent, articulated sequence of rigorous and career related courses. Career, Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE) provides all of our students with the opportunity to select at least three sequenced electives in a career pathway, along with recommended academic course work, to prepare them to continue their education at any level or enter the world of work.

Our 8th grade students have the opportunity to apply to the Academy of Science, Research and Medicine magnet program at Paulding County High School. Students take classes in honors Biology, Chemistry and Biotechnology, where they are put into work-based, hands-on learning situations.

Our students are also offered a variety of online learning opportunities through an expanding alternative education program offered at New Hope Learning Center.

Every month, the diverse student population in Paulding County excel in character traits, like honesty, patriotism, and generosity. Students are nominated by their teachers and recognized monthly by the Board of Education.
