• Hello and welcome to first grade at Ragsdale Elementary School! My name is Meagyn Wilkie and I am thrilled to have your child in my class. This is my 3rd year teaching, but my 2nd year here at Ragsdale (and I LOVE it). I know that we will have many opportunities to get to know each other, but I wanted to start out by telling you a little about myself. I graduated from the University of West Georgia with my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2011. I worked various jobs, patiently waiting for a school position to open up and allow me to fulfill my dream of teaching. I love first grade and all the exploring, learning, and fun that we get to have.

    I was born in Arkansas, but have spent the majority of my life in Paulding County. I married my high school sweetheart 9 years ago, and we have 2 beautiful daughters together; Harper is 3 and Caroline is 2 months. We also have our hands full with two large breed dogs named Marley and Hunter Bear. In my time away from school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to church, crafting, exercising, and being outside.

    The best way to contact me during the day is through my email, mwilkie@paulding.k12.ga.us. Generally, I am only able to check my email before and after school, as our days are packed with learning. The school phone number is 770-443-2140. If you do call during the day, I will not have the opportunity to return your phone call until after dismissal. If for any reason you would like to schedule a conference with me, after school is the best time. I will send a weekly newsletter home which will discuss academic skills for the week as well as important upcoming dates.

    I believe that parental involvement is extremely important to be successful in the classroom. I am excited to partner with you and your child to make this year great!
